in case any of you have never sat on the hood of a car: under an average adult's weight, the thin metal temporarily dents inward, like when you press gently on a soda can. it makes a popping sound.

in other news, took the feedback on the last page; the smackjeeves mirror now has a dark site design, for people who'd like a to read it as such until i migrate the comic to my own server.

is there any significance to lola eating outside by themself, at night, while sugar was asleep? i think you may have said something before about them having disordered eating, but i'm not sure. also, i love all of their expressions on this page!!!

not much, just some light world building.
in the bag, there is a burger wrapper, but it's been stated lola doesn't eat meat when they can avoid it, so it can be presumed sugar's.
after sugar fell asleep, it was obvious she wasn't going to eat them. lola is eating the fries that came with her food.
i might have mentioned that lola tends to eat quickly, and usually several servings if she's given the chance, just out of compulsion, but overall, her relationship to food is fairly healthy.
thank you for the comment!

The lighting and detailling make the cool night atmosphere feel so there I love your environments! Also love the touch of Lola's eyes reacting to the brightness of the phone like, sudden light change is one of those little details that's like "woah, oh yeah that does happen IRL"

OnO @ Sugar having a nightmare, nightmares are no fun QnQ

wondering if it's intentional that sugar second guesses her about the timing as a paranoia thing? like it being on the dot is too suspicious and it sounds like lola is lying to her, and that being bothersome to someone with paranoia issues. because it's like 'why did you lie, what purpose would you have for lying' even if the obvious conclusion is just rounding up or down because people do that a lot, but paranoia doesn't always listen to the obvious conclusion

that's what it read as to me

also good page

I love all the little details like the light of the screen on Lola's face!

Lovely to hear that you're moving to a server of your own. The comic deserves it - can't wait for everything to catch up.

Really like how the comic looks on the black background on the other site, it makes the dark scenes much easier on the eyes.

i love the little detail of lola just
hormfing an entire handful of fries to themself
plus sugar asking if the time "really was on the dot" feels very familiar to me. i usually round up times to the simplest possible number (because numbers are hard) and people often pick at it or point that out so i know the awkwardness of telling the actual/full time
but sugar seems very on edge rn so shes probably feeling anxious/paranoid and noticing every tiny detail which is also... #relateable
